Time to add QR codes (QR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Virtual Reality (VR) to the old 3 R’s. Review the nuts and bolts of building QR codes then go deeper into building AR layers (deeper session on this later today). Add another dimension to learning objects. Animations, videos (educational or original), images, and audio will bloom from everyday objects, the pages of a book, or old-school illustrations. Finally, explore building your own VR's with photo capture software. Cell structures, solar systems with your own students that defy scale! . Explore how the new 3 R's work, how some teachers use them, and what fun (and support) they offer everyone. Then take a DENSI sneak peek into a very different future with AR controls for everyday items.
Placing students in the debates and events of the past, present and future, we provide students an opportunity to think and act like historians. This session will showcase how the Social Studies Techbook is immersing students in events, cultures and places by allowing them to solve problems of the past and challenges we face today
Let’s say your students created a digital board complete with videos, images, links, pretty backgrounds, nifty designs and more. How do you assess their work? More importantly, what exactly are you trying to assess? In this session we’ll share a variety of ideas, resources and instruments to help you assess the seemingly inassessible. As we share and chat, we’ll model development of a rubric for assessing a digital project created with the Discovery Education Board Builder. You’ll leave with practical, useful tools that you can start using this school year.
Engineering is not just for High School and College students anymore. The process of thinking through a problem, investigating solutions and designing a product are all skills that students should be developing throughout their school experience. In this workshop we will work with the "Engineering Lab: Tote and Sit". This virtual lab challenges students to create a product that meets standards that involve material science, cost, design and marketing. We'll showcase how this lab can easily work in conjunction with the Board Builder.
