General Session [clear filter]
Sunday, July 14

3:00pm

DENSI Registration
Check-in and registration opens at 3pm. If you arrive before that time, hang out and enjoy yourself. You will probably be able to drop your luggage off if you need to, but DENSI registration won't begin until 3 :)

When you register, make sure you have your less than $5 gift that you will bestow upon another attendee. We will collect them from you when you check-in and bring them to the barbecue. We will put them in a gift bag for you so keep it small-ish. Remember, people are flying home. (Gag gifts are discouraged. We want you to be able to share something about your home state/province.)

Sunday July 14, 2013 3:00pm - 5:45pm
University Heights Dorms North 1

4:00pm

DENSI Press Photos
When you check in, we'll tell you where press photos are being taken. A week or so after DENSI, we send a press release to your school/district, your local news outlet, and even you!
You'll get your picture taken with Lance Rougeux. He's Vice President of Learning Communities and Instructional Implementation at Discovery Education and one of the founders of the DEN. Lance is also an all around good guy.

The New "3 R's"

Time to add QR codes (QR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Virtual Reality (VR) to the old 3 R’s.  Review the nuts and bolts of building QR codes  then go deeper into building AR layers (deeper session on this later today).  Add another dimension to learning objects.  Animations, videos (educational or original), images, and audio will bloom from everyday objects, the pages of a book, or old-school illustrations. Finally, explore building your own VR's with photo capture software. Cell structures, solar systems with your own students that defy scale! . Explore how the new 3 R's work, how some teachers use them, and what fun (and support) they offer everyone. Then take a DENSI sneak peek into a very different future with AR controls for everyday items.
